Hytera, together with its local partner LIECA Radio Communication, delivered DMR Tier II Solution to secure the fuel deposit in Reunion, an overseas department and region of France.

Based on the island, the deposit site covers one hectare with about one hundred people working for the daily operation and maintenance. As one of the major oil and petrochemical deposit sites, the staff were using old analog radios, which couldn’t provide enough indoor and outdoor coverage. The challenges were abundant and it was essential and urgent to upgrade to a digital system to deliver safe communication.

Working closely with the deposit site, LIECA Radio Communication put forward a general proposal with the advice from technical teams. LIECA’s cooperation with Hytera dates back to 2005, at the very beginning of Hytera’s development in Europe. Multiple professional trainings have been given from Hytera to LIECA among those years. A certified laboratory for the after-sale service of Hytera was also built. LIECA fully understood what’s underneath the challenges for the deposit and implemented a Hytera DMR Tier II solution, which consisted of intrinsically safe digital portable radios, mobile radios, base stations and a repeater.

Reunion Island is an island in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar and 175 km (109 mi) southwest of Mauritius.
