Harris and TAIT to join forces on North American market

Harris signed an agreement with Tait Communications to become Tait’s exclusive distributor in North America on P25 and DMR communication solutions.

The agreement combines the product lines and dealer network of both companies, making Harris and Tait communication solutions, including Project 25 (P25) and Digital Mobile Radio (DMR), for public safety and professional communications available in more than 250 locations across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Harris dealers will gain access to Tait’s DMR equipment as a Harris winds down its Momentum-branded DMR radios that are manufactured by Hytera. The Harris-Hytera DMR arrangement is “coming to what I would call a natural close at the end of the year,” Young said in na interview with Urgent Communicatons.

Together, Harris and Tait offer our customers more choices,” Young continued. “The Tait DMR and P25 products and solutions will extend Harris’ commitment to our customers to provide more options for flexible, powerful communications solutions.”

“Tait Communications is eager to bring our portfolio of P25 and DMR radios to a larger range of customers through the Harris sales organizations,” Tait CEO Garry Diack said. “We believe that providing our combined dealer network and direct sales channel with more options delivers extensive benefit to public-safety, utility and public service customers across North America.”

Harris expects to finalize the integration in the next 3 months.
