To strengthen their positions in the mission critical communications market and to prepare themselves for future demand, Rohill and Huawei decided to partner and combine their individual strengths in LTE and TETRA

Rohill, specialised in the development, production, sales and support of professional mobile communication infrastructures and Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider and recognized leader in the LTE industry, will showcase the LTEtraNode (an integrated LTE/TETRA solution) at Critical Communications World 2013 (Incorporating TETRA World Congress), demonstrating their innovative communications solutions to an international audience.

To strengthen their positions in the mission critical communications market and to prepare themselves for future demand, Rohill and Huawei decided to partner and combine their individual strengths in LTE and TETRA. Rohill and Huawei started a joint development under which the two companies will provide innovative mobile broadband solutions for the mission and business critical communications market. With the rapid growing number of public and private LTE networks globally, Rohill and Huawei see a growing customer demand for mobile broadband networks that integrate with existing TETRA networks in order to provide TETRA functionalities on top of LTE. The LTEtraNode solution and future developments will not only aim for the public safety market but for the whole government and enterprise market like transportation, utilities, oil & gas and industry.

During CCW the companies will show the capabilities of the integrated LTE/TETRA solution by means of several demonstrations of use cases. The LTE/TETRA solution enables the mission critical end-user to access the same data capacity and capabilities that already have been successfully introduced for public networks. This together with equipment that meets the mission critical requirements in relation to the performance, availability, reliability and security makes it the right solution for a wide range of applications.

The LTE/TETRA solution as demonstrated at CWW is a first step in executing a longer term strategy. Rohill and Huawei strongly believe that further LTE/TETRA integration and standardization is the way forward to enable end users to make full use of data capabilities offered by LTE. Any intermediate solution which does not focus on LTE is probably outdated at the moment the products are launched. Rohill and Huawei will develop solutions that can be deployed on generic 3GPP defined frequency bands, but also in other low and high frequency bands to satisfy specific coverage and capacity requirements. Further suitable terminals will be developed that are open to the standards and suitable for different applications.

In January 2013, Huawei officially became member of the TCCA (TETRA and Critical Communications Association, the global TETRA and Critical Communications Association). Huawei will use its accumulated technology in the field of wireless communications to contribute more power in the evolution from the TETRA professional trunked technology to the next generation.
