“The TETRA suite of standards has been generating a lot of excitement around the world,” said OMNI President Ron St. Eve

Hytera Communications named OMNI Provincial Electronics Group to spearhead the introduction of the brand’s TETRA technology-based digital trunking products in the Canadian marketplace. The announcement was made at the North American TETRA Forum held in Toronto June 12.

Hytera’s TETRA products are type-approved by the FCC for sale in the United States and Industry Canada has “approved the Hytera Mobile Funk Infrastructure with approval pending on Hytera terminals,” said Gary Lorenz, vice president of sales, Hytera.

“As the TETRA digital standard becomes global, we recognize that long-term experience in the Canadian communications arena will be an essential component in helping TETRA enter and mature,” Lorenz said. “Our Canadian channel partners will benefit from OMNI’s extensive national resources to ensure their own competitive advantage in the TETRA marketplace.”

OMNI Provincial Electronics Group is already the sole distributor of Hytera and HYT-branded wireless communications products in Canada. OMNI Provincial has supported the Canadian marketplace as a full service solutions provider for professional wireless communications since 1987. With three fully staffed distribution and sales offices in Calgary, Montreal and Newmarket (Toronto), the company offers advanced radio system design support and expertise in the integration of conventional and emerging technologies.

“The TETRA suite of standards has been generating a lot of excitement around the world,” said OMNI President Ron St. Eve. “TETRA provides secure and encrypted communications for critical applications as well as promoting more efficient band usage. All of these are vital for the expanding Canadian marketplace.”
