"....we are confident that we will be a serious contender for all upcoming TETRA radio refreshes in the Dutch market.”

Rotterdam Police, one of the largest police forces in the Netherlands, has decided to replace its ageing fleet of handheld TETRA radios with 4,000 Sepura STP8000 radios.  This is Sepura’s first contract with the Rotterdam Police, and was won through extremely close co-operation with Sepura’s local partner, Abiom, during extensive end-user testing.

Of particular importance was the water ingress testing carried out in the port of Rotterdam, designed to determine which suppliers’ radios could operate in the challenging and harsh environments and circumstances that often face the Rotterdam force.  The Sepura STP8000 hand-portable radio, which boasts an IP55 rating, passed the tests with flying colours.  Also of importance to the end-user was Sepura’s ability to develop specialist software applications to replicate some existing detailed operating requirements.

Commenting on this important win, Kasper Barfoed, Sepura’s Regional Director for Northern Europe commented “This contract was sealed by both the inherent strength of the Sepura product and the customer-focus of Abiom.  The customer carried out rigorous testing and the STP8000 came out ahead of competing products.  In addition, Abiom has excellent relationships with the Rotterdam Police and demonstrated that they offer excellent customer service.”

Bas de Grood, the CEO and owner of Abiom, added “Abiom and Sepura already have a number of contracts with emergency services in the Netherlands and, with Rotterdam Police added to this list, we are confident that we will be a serious contender for all upcoming TETRA radio refreshes in the Dutch market.”

Cor van Paridon from Rotterdam Police commented “We have been very impressed with the STP8000 and the extensive testing has strengthened our confidence in the performance of the Sepura radios. The support offered by Abiom has been outstanding  and we really look forward to the co-operation going forward. We feel confident that this investment will serve to improve the quality and reliability of communications in the Rotterdam police force.”
