Vodafone Albania and Airbus Deploy Mission-Critical Communications at Tirana International Airport

Tirana International Airport (TIA) is setting a new benchmark for airport operations by becoming the first in the region to deploy advanced airport security solutions, powered by Vodafone Albania's 5G network.

The strategic partnership between TIA, Vodafone Business and Airbus marks a significant step forward in how airports manage safety, communication and operational efficiency.

At the heart of the transformation is Airbus' mission-critical Agnet platform, which enables instant, secure push-to-talk communication across airport teams. Supported by Vodafone Albania's high-performance 5G network, the solution allows staff to coordinate in real time, respond faster to incidents, and manage operations with greater precision. From day-to-day coordination to emergency response, the platform ensures that every team — from ground handling to security — stays connected when it matters most.

Vodafone Business has designed and integrated the entire communications and security system alongside providing network coverage, ensuring seamless compatibility with TIA's existing infrastructure. The deployment represents one example of how Vodafone is not only supporting critical national infrastructure, but also providing organisations with scalable, secure and future-ready digital solutions.

Balázs Révész, CEO of Vodafone Albania, said: "This project shows how our role today goes beyond traditional telecommunications. By working with global leaders like Airbus and strategic partners like Tirana International Airport, we're helping build the digital foundations that modern economies rely on."

For TIA, the benefits are tangible. Enhanced real-time communication and coordination are improving operational efficiency and strengthening safety standards for both passengers and employees.

Piervittorio Farabbi, Operational Director of TIA, added: "By implementing Airbus' critical communications platform, supported by Vodafone Albania's 5G connectivity, we're building a sustainable digital infrastructure that ensures safer operations and supports Albania's long-term economic development."

The initiative positions TIA as a leader in digital airport transformation across the Western Balkans, showcasing the potential of combining global technology expertise with local network capabilities. As airports worldwide look to modernise, Tirana International Airport demonstrates what is possible when innovation, partnership and next-generation connectivity come together to create safer and smarter travel experiences.
