Hytera Mobilfunk in cooperation with its distributor Nexus Technology and Tactical IT have been awarded to deploy a state-of-art TETRA network for the city guards of the Provincial Municipality of Puno in Peru.

The city of Puno is the capital of the province and department of Puno, and is located in the southeastern Peru on the shore of Lake Titicaca, at an altitude of over 3,800 meters above the sea level. One of its largest attractions is the Uros Floating Islands. This and its proximity to the Bolivian border means that it is a regular stop on the South American tourist trail. For that reason the security of its citizens and tourists must be ensured.

To modernize and enhance public safety and emergency services across the city, Tactical IT, working with Nexus Technology and Hytera Mobilfunk, was recently awarded to deliver a turn-key video surveillance and mission critical radio communication system based on TETRA technology. Frank Pauer, Deputy CSO at Hytera Mobilfunk: “We are very pleased to have won this project for Puno with our partners Nexus Technology and Technical IT in Peru. It shows the significance of Hytera’s TETRA expertise in mission- critical communication in South America and even worldwide.”

The scope of supply for the TETRA network comprises the cutting-edge DIB-R5 outdoor TETRA base station launched at Critical Communications World earlier this year. The new base station from Hytera is highly suitable to confront the harshest environments conditions of Puno and distinguishes oneself by low power consumption and highest output transmission power in the market. In addition, the complex solution includes a distributed network administration center, a command and control center equipped with AVL/APL and dispatcher consoles together with Hytera PT580H Plus portable and MT680 Plus mobile radios.

“Our Hytera family in Peru is continuously growing with highly and experienced qualified partners. This new success demonstrates again that TETRA is the cutting-edge and highly valuable radio communication technology for mission-critical services in Latin America”, said Luis Perez, Head of Hytera Perú.
