Curated by: Gert Jan Wolf - Editor-in Chief for The Critical Communications Review

DCRS, a leading provider of communication solutions in the UK, announced a successful collaboration with the Hull City Football Club Club to upgrade their two-way radio communication system. This partnership exemplifies DCRS's commitment to delivering cutting-edge communication solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of its clients.

In 2023, DCRS was approached by the football club regarding their outdated two-way radio system. Recognizing the importance of reliable communication in ensuring smooth operations during events, the football club sought to enhance their communication capabilities within the stadium.

Ash Robinson, Sales manager at DCRS, in collaboration with the football club's Event Safety Manager, conducted a thorough assessment of the existing analogue system. It became evident that the system was outdated and no longer met the operational needs of the football club. To address this challenge, DCRS proposed upgrading to a modern digital infrastructure.

The proposed solution involved integrating advanced digital hand portable two-way radios into the existing infrastructure. DCRS recommended the installation of 80 state-of-the-art hand portables along with necessary accessories to ensure comprehensive coverage throughout the stadium. Additionally, DCRS outlined plans to reprogram the infrastructure to enhance digital capabilities, effectively doubling the system's capacity and improving channel configuration.

The implementation process involved reprogramming existing equipment, installation, and configuration of the new digital radios, and conducting thorough testing to ensure optimal coverage and functionality throughout the stadium.

The upgrade to digital radios has resulted in clearer audio quality and improved signal strength, ensuring effective communication even in challenging and loud environments. The expanded channel configuration and increased system capacity have facilitated more efficient communication among staff, enhancing operational coordination during events.

With the implementation of the new business critical communication system, the Championship Football Club now boasts a scalable and future-ready communication infrastructure capable of adapting to their evolving operational needs.

This successful collaboration between DCRS and the Championship Football Club underscores DCRS's expertise in providing tailored communication solutions to meet the unique requirements of its clients.
