FirstNet, Built with AT&T is Connecting More First Responders Across Minnesota

Curated by: Gert Jan Wolf - Editor-in Chief for The Critical Communications Review

First responders in northern Minnesota are getting a major boost in their wireless communications thanks to the FirstNet network expansion currently underway by AT&T. FirstNet added two new, purpose-built cell sites in Ely and Gary to help advance public safety and improve connectivity for residents and visitors.

Today, FirstNet covers nearly all of Minnesota – helping to connect public safety agencies and organizations in more than 190 communities across the state.  FirstNet rolled out Band 14 on more than 800 sites across Minnesota to provide public safety with truly dedicated coverage and capacity when they need it. Areas currently benefitting from Band 14 include Minneapolis, St. Paul, Duluth, Rochester, St. Cloud, Goodhue, Mankato, Baudette, Brainerd, Baxter, Chippewa County, the Iron Range and Angle Inlet.
