Simoco appoints Paul Lawrence as general manager EMEA

Lawrence, who joins from Virgin Media Business, is tasked with growing market share in EMEA region, including sales of the new Simoco Xd DMR Tier 2 range of products

Radio communications specialist Simoco, part of Team Telecom Group, has appointed Paul Lawrence as general manager to help the company further grow its market share in the EMEA region for its range of mobile radio products, including the recently launched DMR based Simoco Xd range.

Paul joins the company from Virgin Media Business, where he was head of business markets for Scotland, North and Northern Ireland. He was responsible for three sales teams, and the retention of revenues and acquisition sales within fixed line the B2B market. He brings with him over 32 years’ experience in the telecoms industry, working with the likes of Siemens, Kingston Communications and NTL prior to joining.

Commenting on his new position, Paul said: ‘Simoco has over 60 years’ experience in the PMR industry and through its own research, development and manufacturing facilities supports not only legacy technologies, but also innovation in Digital Tier II and Tier III IP-ready products. I’m really looking forward to working with the team to build strong partner relationships in both our existing and new markets across the EMEA region.

‘The exciting development from my perspective is that Simoco is using its IP know-how to bring radio into the heart of communications strategies, helping our customers to drive down costs and improve their operations. Coupled with a first class heritage in the PMR sector we see a great opportunity to expand.’
