Airwave took top honours at the International Critical Communication Awards 2016 winning the Green Technology Award.

Previously known as the International Tetra Awards, this year saw the evolution of the awards to the International Critical Communication Awards to reflect the changing landscape of digital communications technology. The awards ceremony was held on Friday 26 February and saw the highest number of entries in the event’s history, with submissions from companies across the globe.

Airwave was successfully shortlisted for three awards; Best Use of TETRA for Public Safety, Best Innovation and the Green Technology Award.

“Winning the Green Technology Award is great recognition of our ‘green thinking’ programmes and the measures we have taken to reduce carbon emissions and waste across the Airwave Network. From the earliest days of delivering our Service, Airwave has been committed to minimising our impact on the environment, and improving resource efficiency. People, Planet and Partnership is the standard that we all live by on a day-to-day basis at Airwave.” Says John Lewis, Chief Operating Officer of Airwave.

On the night, Airwave was also Highly Commended for the Best Use of TETRA for Public Safety Award.

“We are delighted to have been Highly Commended for the Best Use of TETRA for Public Safety due the excellence of our Service in this sector. Airwave’s Services are relied upon every day by over 300 agencies which include all of Great Britain’s emergency services and a wide range of public safety organisations

Although we didn’t scoop the Best Innovation Award, the nomination itself is a great accolade as it recognises our suite of mobile data applications and services, called Pronto, as an example of technology with true ingenuity which pushes the boundaries of current working practices. Pronto is enabling more than a third of police forces across Great Britain to take significant steps towards paperless policing and increased presence in the community.” continued John Lewis, Chief Operating Officer of Airwave.

In 2015, Airwave was Highly Commended for two awards; Best Use of TETRA for Public Safety and the Green TETRA Award.
