The TETRA-based network is part of multi-year rollout for the National Digital Communication System

Motorola Solutions, a leading provider of mission-critical communication solutions and services for government and enterprise customers, has been awarded a multimillion U.S. dollar contract to provide a nationwide Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) digital radio network to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF). This further attests to the trust that more than 2 million users have in TETRA digital radios from Motorola Solutions globally.

As part of its Strategic Planning Programme from 2007-2016, the RBPF has embarked on this National Digital Communication System (NDCS) to meet increasing expectations from citizens for public security and safety by government agencies that need to match with better service effectiveness and quality.

Led by the Royal Brunei Police Force, this will be the first such nationwide TETRA deployment for government agencies in Brunei. Aimed to eliminate duplication of resources and provide centralized emergency and operational information using encrypted, two-way digital radio communications, the NDCS eventually will be extended to other emergency and government agencies. This would greatly enhance seamless communications across agencies during joint field operations.

Pg Mohd Jefri Bin Pg HJ Abd Hamid, deputy director of Logistic & Royal Brunei Police Force NDCS project manager

“The National Digital Communication System (NDCS) is a major milestone towards serving our community better and more safely. Through the NDCS, the Royal Brunei Police Force can allocate the nearest available resources to attend to any incident and save precious time when responding to incidents. From an efficiency standpoint, the NDCS will eliminate work duplication, providing centralized emergency and operation information via a two-way encrypted digital radio communications system powered by Motorola Solutions.”

Chang Kar Weng, head of country sales, Singapore & Brunei, Motorola Solutions

“The use of TETRA technology is designed to allow the Royal Brunei Police Force to communicate effectively and more securely than ever before. We are delighted to be part of the first TETRA deployment in Brunei for a public service agency and are fully committed to ensuring that the secured digital trunked radio solution will be able to equip Brunei’s first responders with the technology to be their best in the moments that matter.”
