CFocus, the consulting company in The Netherlands that strategically positions companies that would like to expand their business throughout Europe, presents Reliable and secure mobile work force solutions for the Public Safety Industry.

With many years of experience across the entire Public Safety domain e.g. mission critical communications projects, the company is uniquely positioned and is specialized in creating European market entrance for new solutions from  development companies within this nice market such as Goodmill, TETRATab and Zepcam.

For law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and emergency medical service units, it is critical to have a constant flow of information on the field. Therefore CFocus presents currently 3 crucial building blocks to achieve this.

Best possible coverage using parallel networks

One of these building blocks is based on the The Goodmill w24e mobile multi-channel router. The router provide a reliable, fast, and secure broadband connection between the vehicles and the command & control room. The Goodmill w24e is the first router in the world to provide seamless and reliable switching between several different broadband data networks using technologies like 3G HSPA, CDMA2000/450, WiMAX, and LTE. It monitors the outgoing traffic continuously and, in case of a connection failure, immediately reroutes the traffic through another network. The advantage of tis all is that it ensures reliable connectivity that is not interrupted even when the vehicles are constantly on the move. Furthermore, Goodmill w24e reduces the TETRA network load, making it more reliable. This is achieved by offloading data traffic from the TETRA network to broadband networks.

Data device which is ‘tough enough for the front line’

Selecting the correct data device for a mobile work force is difficult at the best of times. In conjunction with the UK police and Intel, TETRAtab has started to develop a new market sector of ‘tough enough’ devices. The brief was to provide devices more robust than an office laptop but not as expensive as the rugged devices epitomized by the Panasonic ToughBook or TETRAtab’s own R series. The devices needed to be HSDPA/3G for the majority of users but with TETRA data options for those handling secure documentation. They needed to be deployable with the minimum of training because there is often no training budget, and they needed some specific options such as card readers for deployment on secure databases. In short, the device must be suitable for police officers to do their desk work and take witness statements in the field.

TETRAtab teamed with Intel to produce the C series convertible Tablet/Laptop. Running Windows operating systems, the devices are both securable and intuitive to use. They are well thought through, too, with spill proof keyboards and a touch-screen that you can rest your palm on as you write. In conjunction with major telecoms operators, TETRAtab has enabled the devices to work on commercial 3G HSDPA networks, including specialist APN’s. They have also an option of TETRA data using the Motorola TOM 100 TETRA Modem, giving single slot IP data or SDS data streams.

Live stream body-worn video

Another eye-catcher within the mobile work force concept is the live stream body-worn video of Zepcam. Recently, the Zepcam product range is expanded with a new recorder: The Zepcam T1-XT.  Unique feature is the live video streaming between the body cam of the police officer in the field and the command & control room. The Zepcam T1-XT can continuous record video up to 9 hours and has a standby time of 30 hours.

Zepcam video can be replayed on the Zepcam or on a PC or MAC. Encryption and login ensure that only authorized users can watch the recorded videos. The Zepcam T1 consists of 3 MAIN PARTS that can be worn on the body: camera, recorder and a wireless remote control.

The Zepcam product range is developed in close cooperation with experts and users in the field, both police officers and fire fighters.
