T-MATRIX Offers Customers an Efficient and Cost-Effective Solution Irrespective of Their Budget, Size of Operation and Location

Based on its recent analysis of public safety communication market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Artevea Digital Limited with the 2011 European Frost & Sullivan Award for New Product Innovation for the development of the T-MATRIX™ solution in the terrestrial trunked radio (TETRA) infrastructure systems domain.

As mobile communications technology evolves, digital trunked professional mobile radio solutions have garnered an important role in recent years, mainly due to the fact that it could provide crucial safety-related information in dire situations. Commercial industry players too have acknowledged the applicability and advantages by capitalizing on these public safety communication technologies. The T-MATRIX solution is based on the design principles for delivering fully distributed, flexible and reliable TETRA Networks. It provides a time tested, rich set of interfaces and applications to integrate with a large range of peripherals and external services. These innovative elements permit it to gain significant advantages against its competitors.

One of the customer requirements in this segment includes the integration of the new system with existing legacy systems thereby ensuring smooth transition of services and easy end-user adoption. There is also an increasing need for interfacing and integrating some of the services available with the latest commercial radio communication networks especially high speed data networks. In addition, customized user interfaces for man-machine interaction is an important feature for such systems.

The core architecture of T-MATRIX is unique with each radio site in the Artevea network working independently with its own local software driven switching mechanism running standard commercial hardware, also called the distributed network intelligence. This means a T-MATRIX network has easy flexibility to grow from a single site configuration into a large network and the network can be rolled out in a phased manner to fit annual budgets of firms that implement these solutions. The architecture also gives it increased reliability, fault tolerance and enhances operational flexibility.

An important element in Artevea Digital Limited's solution is that the switching software is designed to run on standard operating software and hardware platforms and not proprietary standards. This approach ensures easy maintainability, upgradability, and zero dependence on proprietary platforms. The switching software has a built-in mechanism to use the network infrastructure for several virtual networks making it easy to roll-out pay-per-use models. There is also the flexibility to integrate with any type of backbone network infrastructure, existing telephony solutions, legacy radio communication network and other signaling frameworks.

"The T-MATRIX technology is future proof because it is designed to be able to support the developing TETRA 2 Standard and inter systems interface (ISI) specifications," said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Anand Srinivasan.

TETRA has had a successful history in the public safety sector and is increasingly being adopted by commercial organizations from different sectors. The T-MATRIX system also caters to various application segments such as strategic military networks, network operators, covert operations, humanitarian operations, peace keeping missions, crisis management, military operations and natural disaster relief.

Based on the aforementioned criteria, Frost & Sullivan is proud to present the 2011 European New Product Innovation Award in TETRA Infrastructure Systems space to Artevea Digital Limited. Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that that has developed an innovative element in a product by leverage leading edge technologies. The award recognizes the value added features and benefits of the product and the increased ROI it offers customers, which in turn increases customer acquisition and overall market penetration potential.
