Solutions developed to enable Fire and Rescue Service efficiency

Airwave, provider of critical voice and data communications to the emergency services, and 3tc Software have formed a partnership to develop new mobilisation solutions for Fire and Rescue Services.

The new solutions will enable more efficient deployment and management of resource and better management of emergencies. The solutions will enable control room staff to automatically assign incidents to the nearest available fire appliance, and crews will have access to information about the incident, including building plans and details of any hazardous substances which may affect activity on the ground. Fire and Rescue Services’ incident responses will become swifter and safer as a result.

The information available can also be used to automatically complete incident reports, removing the time consuming manual procedures and reducing the opportunity of errors.

The Fire and Rescue Services are able to use the existing Airwave mobile data terminals to send and receive incident information, allowing maximum benefit to be gained from the existing investment in technology.

Airwave and 3tc Software are continuing to develop solutions to support efficient operations within the Fire and Rescue Services. The partnership already has a successful track record, as Airwave and 3tc Software have worked together to roll out the fully managed solution to the Fire and Rescue Services across Scotland. This system is now operational in over 1,100 fire service vehicles and 368 fire stations in Scotland enabling Fire and Rescue services to coordinate emergency responses using both voice and data communication.

David Sangster, Airwave Director of UK Services, said:
“Airwave is proud to be working with 3tc Software again. Our combined expertise has enabled us to develop solutions which will help to greatly improve the Fire and Rescue Services’ efficiency, and we look forward to jointly developing further solutions in the future.”

David Todd, Chief Executive of 3tc Software, said:
“3tc Software’s track record of software development and integration of mission critical applications complements Airwave’s leading role in emergency communications. Together, we can help the Fire and Rescue Services across Great Britain to become more efficient and improve incident safety.”
