Mobile Communications Marks Leadership Transition as Founder Nick Stefanou Steps Back and Peter Gaudie Joins as Head of Technical Sales
Mobile Communications (MCQ) has confirmed two significant developments within its leadership and technical sales team, marking both the semi-retirement of company founder Nick Stefanou after 40 years in the communications industry and the appointment of Peter Gaudie as Head of Technical Sales.
Stefanou founded Mobile Communications and was responsible for building the technical foundation on which the business continues to operate today. Following the sale of MCQ to Robbie Huxley, Stefanou remained involved with the company in a consulting capacity to support a smooth transition of leadership and operations. With that transition period now complete, Huxley continues to lead the business as owner and chief executive officer.
Huxley brings extensive experience delivering complex communications projects across Australia and Papua New Guinea, spanning mining, aviation, maritime and remote operations. He is taking MCQ forward with a continued focus on practical, resilient communications systems across HF, VHF, UHF, LTE and satellite technologies.
Stefanou will now direct more of his time toward developing and refining Nexion, the communications technology he created and owns. Nexion will continue to be sold and supported by Mobile Communications going forward. The company acknowledged Stefanou's four decades of contribution to the business, the wider industry and those who have worked alongside him, and extended its best wishes for his semi-retirement.
Alongside this transition, Mobile Communications has appointed Peter Gaudie as Head of Technical Sales, bringing more than 20 years of experience across defence, tactical communications, technical support and customer delivery to the role. Gaudie's career began with more than a decade of service in the Australian Defence Force, working with tactical HF, VHF and UHF systems, before supporting Defence communications modernisation and Battle Management System integration as an ELSA contractor. Most recently, he spent eight years with Logic Wireless, providing technical support across two-way radio, DMR, P25 and LTE Push-to-Talk solutions for customers in government, emergency services, mining, transport, utilities and commercial sectors.
Mobile Communications noted that Gaudie's combination of technical knowledge and practical, field-based customer experience makes him well placed to understand how communications systems perform under operational pressure and to match the right solution to the task at hand, an asset the company expects to support customers as it continues to grow its capability across HF, VHF, UHF, LTE and satellite communications.
Together, the leadership transition and the strengthening of the technical sales team reflect Mobile Communications' continued focus on practical, field-proven communications solutions as the business moves into its next chapter under Huxley's leadership.
