Anritsu to Consolidate SmartViser SAS as Subsidiary in Expanded Test Solutions Strategy

Curated by: Gert Jan Wolf - Editor-in Chief for The Critical Communications Review

Japanese test and measurement specialist Anritsu Corporation has agreed to acquire an additional 18.28% stake in French software company SmartViser SAS, bringing its total shareholding to 51%, and consolidating SmartViser as a fully owned subsidiary. The share transfer agreement was approved at Anritsu's Board of Directors meeting on 31 March 2026, with completion expected in August 2026, subject to regulatory requirements.

Anritsu first took a 32.72% stake in SmartViser in March 2025. Headquartered in Rennes, France, SmartViser develops automated test solutions for mobile network operators and device manufacturers, covering mobile network performance evaluation, functional testing, quality monitoring, and compliance with EU smartphone energy efficiency regulations.

The consolidation is intended to combine SmartViser's expertise in test automation with Anritsu's broader portfolio of telecommunications test solutions. Anritsu states that the move is expected to generate expanded business opportunities beyond the smartphone market, with specific relevance to private networks, mission-critical communications, and the automotive sector.

The reference to mission-critical networks is of particular note for the critical communications industry, signalling Anritsu's intent to deepen its engagement with professional and public safety radio markets through enhanced automated testing capabilities.

Until the closing of the transaction, both companies will continue to operate independently, with management and business decisions taken on an individual basis.
