FREQUENTIS welcomes Karl Wannenmacher as new Chief Technology Officer to the Executive Board

Curated by: Gert Jan Wolf - Editor-in Chief for The Critical Communications Review

From 1 July 2024, Karl Wannenmacher, currently Director of Public Safety Products at Frequentis, will
lead the research and development (R&D) and technology activities of the Frequentis Group.

Karl Wannenmacher (45) brings nearly 25 years of professional software engineering background. He
has worked at Frequentis since 2005, holding various management positions within the Frequentis R&D organisation. Karl Wannenmacher has profound know-how in designing and implementing complex systems and products for international customers in safety-critical domains and leading large
engineering organisations. Since 2010 he has been a member of the Frequentis Technology
Management Board.

Karl Wannenmacher graduated from the University of Applied Sciences “Technikum Wien” in 2002 with
a degree in Electronics and a specialisation in Computer and Software Engineering.

He will follow Hermann Mattanovich (64), who has decided to reduce his activities at Frequentis. He will step down as CTO to focus on consulting the Executive Board and leading special projects. Hermann Mattanovich has been CTO since 2009 and from 2018 to 2023 he also held the position of COO. During this time, he successfully expanded two of Frequentis' most important strengths: technical expertise and innovation.

“In his 30 years at Frequentis, 15 of them as CTO, Hermann Mattanovich has played a key role in
shaping the company's further development and achieving major technical milestones. Crucial
Frequentis projects with a high demand for technologically innovative solutions greatly benefited from
his enormous knowledge,” says Hannes Bardach, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Frequentis.
“I’m pleased to welcome Karl Wannenmacher to the Executive Board. With his vast software expertise,
strategical approach, and entrepreneurial mindset he will contribute on top of our R&D organisation to
further strengthening the Frequentis Group as a world-class technology provider. I wish him all the best
for his new role,”

says Norbert Haslacher, CEO Frequentis.
