Nedaa, the Dubai government critical communication specialist, is about to complete a 70Mio Euro project by 2020, to help its customers communicate faster and more efficient during disasters.

According to Mansoor Buosaiba, CEO of Nedaa in an interview with The National, phase one is already completed. The company is now in the last stage of finishing phase two of the mission critical LTE project. The project is expected to be completed by 2020.

There is a good reason to complete the project in 2020, as the World Expo 2020 will be held in Dubai between 20 October 2020 and 10 April 2021. The Expo site, which will cover a total of 438 hectares, is located in the Dubai South district near the Al Maktoum International Airport and will attract about 25 million visitors. Therefore the Dubai government does not want to take any compromises on safety and security.

Preparations, such as the completion of a critical communications network are solidly on track.

“Recently, we had done a trial during one of the incidents in Dubai and the result was fantastic,” said Mr Buosaiba. “It was about live broadcasting of videos from the venue to the control room, which was 40km away, using the LTE network.”

GCC mission critical LTE revenue is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 6.6 per cent to $1.9 billion in 2028 from $1bn this year. The public security LTE infrastructure market – which includes base stations, mobile core and transport network equipment – is expected to grow at a CAGR of nearly 45 per cent from this year to 2020, according to SNS Research. By 2020, these infrastructure investments will be supplemented by up to 3.8 million LTE device shipments.
