Basque TETRA Network Operator Appoints New General Manager

The Basque Government's Publicly-Owned telecommunications company appointed Matxalen Lauzirika Jauregi as the new General Manager for Itelazpi.

- The new Itelazpi general manager is joining the cross-cutting team of the Basque Country which is already striving to turn the Basque Country into a “Smart Country”.

Itelazpi recently announced the appointment of Matxalen Lauzirika to be the head of a publicly-owned company that is key to infrastructure of the Basque County and which plays a core role providing carrier services for all end users of the critical communications of the Basque public sector: firemen, police, ambulance, EITB (Basque public broadcasting service), etc.

Before her appointment as GM, the new Itelazpi General Manager was Human Resources Manager at Transformados del Nervión SAL and has experience as an insolvency administrator. Between 1995 and 2015, Matxalen worked as a lawyer through the Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa law associations. She was also a legal advisor to companies in a variety of sectors including machine tools, automotive and construction. Furthermore, she worked as a legal advisor at the Technical Secretariat of the Equity and Procurement Division of the Basque Government’s Ministry of the Treasury and Economy for the last two years.

Matxalen Lauzirika Jauregi speaks Basque, English, French and Italian.

In 2018, Itelazpi will manage a budget of around EUR 18 million, thanks to the income from different sources.
