Motorola Solutions announced winning a contract for the supply of digital radio system, Dimetra IP TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) for Vattenfall in Poland

The system consists of 28 base stations and 1000 TETRA radios (MTP850S Portable and MTM5400 TETRA mobile terminals)

Motorola Solutions DImetra IP chosen by Vattenfall Distributioounced winning a contract for the supply of digital radio system, Dimetra IP TETRA (TErrestrial Trunked RAdio) for Vattenfall Distribution in Poland.

The solution provides distributed communication between employees at several thousand square kilometers, offering high operational efficiency, faster repairs and interruptions in power, and secure transmission medium for robot and telemetry.

The main contractor for the project is a partner of Motorola - IT Partners TelcoThe company will be responsible for the integration of TETRA solutions with existing applications, SCADA dispatching consoles, as well as all work related to installation and maintenance of the system.

The network will be launched in southern Poland, Silesia, and will allow for faster restoration of power supply to 1.1 million customers. Implementation of the scheme started in April this year and completed in 2012.

Additional Information:

• The TETRA system will provide Vattenfall Distribution Poland access to databases and to the public telephone network. The implemented solution will also enable remote radio control devices, as well as remote monitoring of energy facilities.
• The TETRA system will enable Vattenfall Distribution Poland for broad application processes and telemetry robot. The solution will thus contribute significantly to improve the functioning of the electricity grid and enable quick and effective response to any situation within the network. This allows end users will have provided the highest availability of electricity. 
• Implementation of the TETRA system will take place in several stages. The final transition from analogue to digital is planned for 2012
