ACCESSNET®-T IP expansion in the Dominican Republic: TETRA network for public safety achieves nationwide radio coverage.

The expansion of the nationwide Public Safety TETRA network in the Dominican Republic is complete: the last coverage gaps in rural areas were closed on behalf of the Dominican Ministry of the Interior, thereby achieving nationwide radio coverage.

The completed TETRA network now comprises more than 200 base stations and is used by all police and rescue forces in the country as well as the 911 emergency call centers. With ACCESSNET®-T IP, Public Safety forces in the Dominican Republic communicates via a secure, highly available and robust radio system of the latest TETRA generation. Comprehensive control and dispatching functions contribute to fast response times and efficient operation.

HMF has overseen the project since the beginning of 2013 and has accompanied all expansion phases. The first base stations were set up in the capital Santo Domingo, then the network was expanded along the main traffic artery towards the north (Santiago de los Caballeros and the “Zona Norte” coastal region). From there, the whole country was gradually equipped with the new TETRA radio coverage.
