Efficient Communications Between Norwegian and Swedish Public Safety Actors Despite Corona Crisis

Coordination of resources and communication between the fire crews took place over the Nødnett and the Rakel critical communications TETRA network.

Despite the corona boundary, cooperation between public safety actors across the Norwegian / Swedish border works as it should.

The Directorate of Civil Protection (DSB) recenlty stated that cross-border cooperation between Norway and Sweden as well as the availability of the Nødnett TETRA critical communications network is still intact and works as designed. This was experienced by Norwegian and Swedish fire crews as a fire started to burn in a compressor on a drilling rig west of Idre in Sweden. Idre is one of the towns in Dalarna, which is less than 40 km from the border to Inland Norway.

Norwegian fire crews assisted the Swedes in the extinguishing work. Coordination of resources and communication between the fire crews took place over the Nødnett (Norway) and the Rakel (Sweden) TETRA network.
