Mobile Tornado Launches 'TornadoX'
New MCX-certified platform gives resellers and mission-critical operators a standards-based alternative to conventional commercial PTT.
Mobile Tornado has announced the launch of TornadoX, a new communications platform designed to extend Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) beyond its commercial origins into standards-based Mission Critical Services (MCX) territory. The platform is built on 3GPP-compliant MCX technology and was recognised as Best MCX Product or Solution of the Year at the 2025 TCCA (ICCA) Awards, positioning it as a certified, standards-based option for organisations operating in transport, utilities, energy, logistics, security and other critical infrastructure sectors.
According to the company, TornadoX has been engineered to meet the stricter operational and procurement requirements demanded by mission-critical users, incorporating a set of capabilities that distinguish it from conventional commercial PTT solutions. These include guaranteed priority access, ensuring that mission-critical communications are not queued behind lower-priority traffic; network pre-emption, allowing critical calls to maintain their connection even during network congestion; and operational resilience designed for sustained performance under demanding, real-world conditions rather than controlled demonstration environments. The platform's standards-based architecture also enables interoperability across multi-vendor ecosystems, avoiding single-vendor lock-in for customers.
For the reseller community, the launch is expected to open access to a segment of the market that has traditionally been difficult to reach. Public safety, transport and critical infrastructure organisations frequently require standards-based MCX credentials as a procurement prerequisite rather than a preference, and TornadoX gives partners a certified platform to meet that requirement directly. In a commercial PTT market that has become increasingly commoditised, the company noted that 3GPP compliance represents a differentiator that cannot be replicated through interface or feature updates alone.
Mobile Tornado further indicated that TornadoX is intended to support account growth across the full spectrum of communications needs, spanning everyday commercial workforce use cases through to mission-critical operations, allowing customer relationships to scale as requirements evolve.
The company positioned the launch within a broader industry shift, as increasing numbers of organisations move operations onto LTE and 5G networks and standards-based MCX transitions from a niche requirement to an expected baseline across sectors previously considered important rather than strictly mission critical.
