Focus on Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence

Pro-M Zrt., operator of the Hungarian public safety and critical communications network, and Óbudai University have signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at jointly advancing Hungary's digital infrastructure in the fields of artificial intelligence, 5G/6G technologies, and cybersecurity, while equipping the next generation of engineers with practical, industry-relevant skills.

The partnership creates a direct link between university research and development and the operational realities of critical communications systems. Pro-M Zrt., Hungary's exclusive provider of government-purpose telecommunications services, and Óbudai University, one of the country's leading technical higher education institutions, will collaborate on the development and application of technologies designed to strengthen Hungary's long-term digital resilience.

Key focus areas of the partnership include cybersecurity and the protection of critical infrastructures, the advancement of critical communications systems, the application of 5G and 6G technologies, AI-driven network monitoring and cyber defence solutions, and the enhancement of industrial systems security.

A central element of the agreement is the development of a future talent pipeline. Pro-M Zrt. will support Óbudai University students through guest lectures, consultation opportunities, and professional internship placements, enabling students to gain hands-on experience within real technological and operational environments during their studies. Students will also have the opportunity to contribute to projects related to the development of government-purpose communications networks.

The two organisations will launch joint research and development programmes addressing areas including resilience against cyberattacks, AI-based incident detection, security analysis of critical infrastructures, and the establishment of specialised test environments. The partnership also supports industrial doctoral collaborations, thesis and student research projects, and the broader adoption of cooperative education models.

The overarching goal is to create an innovation and training ecosystem — combining academic expertise with real-world industry experience — that ensures the secure long-term operation of Hungary's digital infrastructure and sustains a pipeline of highly qualified engineering and IT professionals.

"Protecting critical infrastructures and ensuring government communications services are today inconceivable without the highest level of scientific expertise. This cooperation is not merely a declaration of intent — it is a tangible action plan. By giving students direct insight into the world of critical technologies and sharing our up-to-date industry experience with them, we are also strengthening our own future talent base," said Dr. Ferenc Balla, CEO of Pro-M Zrt.

"The partnership creates new opportunities for students and researchers to participate in the development of the most advanced technologies," added Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, Rector of Óbudai University.
