DSB launched a services where Nødnett radio terminals can be updated using a wireless network at the customer's premises.

The service will simplify operation and maintenance of radio terminals. Section manager for market and user follow-up, Bjørn Morten Skudsveen (pictured), is satisfied.

We are concerned with efficient and user-friendly operation of Nødnett and of equipment used in Nødnett. We are happy to be able to use functionality that gives customers the opportunity for faster software updates, says Skudsveen.

The new service will allow for updating and reprogramming via a wireless network (WiFi). New terminal models from both Motorola and Sepura have support for this functionality.

When users acquire new radio terminals, DSB recommends using the option of wireless programming. It simplifies the job of everyone involved, says Skudsveen.

It is expected that the user organizations will be able to use the service in the first quarter of 2024. It is expected that DSB will come back with more information about the launch of the service in autumn 2023.

With the terminal providers, the service is referred to as OTAP (Over The Air Programming).
