French ST(SI)² Picks DMR Radio Communications Technology

This robust and reliable radio technology fully meets the specific expectations of High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoons (PGHM), mountain CRS and recently specialized intervention forces.

Faced with the urgent need to replace the radio infrastructures dedicated to mountain rescue, based on obsolete analogue standards, and to renew the fleets of obsolete tactical terminals of specialized intervention units, DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) technology was chosen by the French ST(SI)² - Service des Technologies et des Systèmes d'Information de la Sécurité Intérieure to cover these particular needs.

This robust and reliable radio technology fully meets the specific expectations of High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoons (PGHM), mountain CRS and recently specialized intervention forces.

With the installation of the "Infra Paris DMR Forces d'intervention," which is made up of three radio relays and now covers the Greater Paris area, the three specialized intervention units of the Ministry of the Interior and the Sea (GIGN, RAID, and BRI) will be able to talk to each other either separately or together in order to improve their ability to help during the 2024 Olympic Games. Each force will thus have its own communication groups, and for interoperability purposes, a common channel dedicated to the three forces can be used.

The renovation of the mountain radio network of the Groupement de Gendarmerie Départementale de Haute-Savoie, whose deployment is scheduled for autumn 2023 for the benefit of the High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon 74, for a total of 9 relays, marks the expansion and concrete progress of this project in metropolitan France.

Guillaume Lundi, Officier de Gendarmerie, Saint-cyrien, Ingénieur - Gouvernance de système d'information on social media said:

Good news! We are looking forward to the deployment of DMR technology in Région de gendarmerie du Grand Est - Zone de défense et de sécurité Est, particularly in the Vosges, Haut-Rhin and Jura departments.

A resilient radio network that will increase inter-force collaboration in the context of the 2024 Olympic Games. Excellent choice.
