SALUS Final Validation Event to Prove Public Safety Communications between 4G, Wi-Fi, TETRA and TETRAPOL

Source: MCCResources

The SALUS Final Validation Event will take place in Kuopio, Finland, on 14-15 June, 2016. This event will include a variety of simulated public safety emergency conditions similar to real emergencies.

The goal is to prove the need and the advantages of using LTE mobile broadband technology in public safety scenarios whilst still ensuring interworking with Wi-Fi, TETRA and TETRAPOL technologies. Many key functionalities, such as push-to-talk, group communications, messaging, video streaming, video call, video-group call, high-speed access to data, seamless roaming and support for emergency calls by the public in affected areas, will be demonstrated.

Participants will have the opportunity to visit our Command and Control Centre facilities where they will be able to observe the TETRA, TETRAPOL and LTE dispatchers and additional functionalities, such as our integrated situational awareness solution (also known as Common Operational Picture). It includes real-time outdoor and indoor location tracking system, bio vital monitoring for PPDR emergency service workers (such as body temperature, bio signals), live video feeds from multiple sources (including aerial), advanced video management system and a reactive security monitoring system.

To share the knowledge we have gathered throughout the project, participants will be invited (subject to maximum participants number) to participate in our in-field hands-on training events. These will give an overview of the LTE, TETRA and TETRAPOL technologies, and an insight on our developed solutions for broadband PPDR.

In addition, SALUS will also host a special event that includes a keynote speech from the European Commission and other inspiring talks from end-users, manufacturers and researchers. The format is fast-paced: fifteen-minute talks interspersed with short interventions from the audience which is expected to present problems and constraints common to PPDR organisations and that need to be addressed in the next generation PPDR broadband communication system.
