The next-gen critical communications consulting firm joined the eLTE Industry Alliance, an open industry organisation of more than 75 companies working together to develop new solutions for the critical communications broadband trunking enterprise market.

Quixoticity was founded in 2012 by global critical communications expert, Peter Clemons, a former TCCA Director & Board Member & well-known TETRA advocate, to look at new ways of researching, developing and financing the global critical communications community’s move to next-generation solutions in times of rapid technological change. The critical communications community has radically different requirements to the wider commercial sector so Quixoticity dedicates its efforts to helping the community define its requirements and raise its profile in an increasingly challenging global environment. Peter Clemons’ background in development economics and his many years spent living and working in emerging markets, has allowed him to develop new, unique tools for interpreting the world in which we live, which will be incorporated into new services to be launched during 2016.

LTE (Long Term Evolution) is a radio technology that provides much higher data rates to users, works in urban and rural areas and allows national roaming with other LTE networks (Public Mobile Network Operators) in areas where radio coverage of a dedicated Public Safety network would otherwise be too costly. With the capability to provide voice trunking, video dispatch, video surveillance and location services, eLTE broadband trunking infrastructure and rich portfolio of eLTE terminals, applications and custom solutions offered by the eLTE Alliance members help customers to significantly improve operational efficiency and emergency response rates.

The eLTE Alliance promotes the development and commercialisation of enterprise LTE solutions (eLTE) and therefore relies on joint-member innovation. Members of the eLTE Alliance jointly perform solution development, solution marketing and actively promote and develop voice trunking industry standards in 3GPP and ITU together with a large number of organisations. Its major goal is to act as a catalyst to accelerate the development of global standards that can be adopted as widely as possible by Governments, emergency services, mass-transit & essential service companies, industry, oil & gas & other enterprises around the world with mission-critical requirements.

Quixoticity is an active member of the TETRA + Critical Communications Association (TCCA), the UK Federation of Communications Services (FCS), and Cambridge Wireless. Peter Clemons, Founder & Managing Director, Quixoticity Ltd, adds: “We have made significant progress towards a single, global critical communications standard in recent times, but there is still more work to be done in 2016. By engaging with the eLTE Industry Alliance, Quixoticity Ltd has the opportunity to work together with a wide range of organisations from around the world to accelerate the adoption of important new technologies and make sure that ITU’s IMT standards suite and 3GPP-based global standards such as LTE - and one day, 5G - are at the core of future critical communications networks. These are exciting times for our community.”

eLTE Industry Alliance Chairman Norman Frisch (Huawei) welcomes Quixoticity as a new member of the Industry Alliance: “It is very important for the Alliance to work with visionaries such as Peter Clemons from Quixoticity who have enormous experience and knowledge of the critical communications industry, to build the next generation of mission-critical voice trunking and broadband data solutions in line with LTE and latest 3GPP standards. We believe that Quixoticity can help us build a bridge to other similar-minded organisations and help eLTE Industry Alliance become more open and inclusive to the wider critical communications community at this important moment for the industry.”

By joining the eLTE Industry Alliance, Quixoticity is now committing itself to work with the wider global critical communications industry to contribute to providing more advanced, secure & resilient voice, data & multimedia solutions with improved capacity, coverage & availability for public safety users and other key sectors based on open, harmonised global standards.
