Hytera to Boost Security of DMR Portfolio

Hytera is boosting the security of DMR radio with a function that is available free of charge. The additional "over-the-air encryption" function increases protection against interception and thus provides users with a massive amount of added value in a very wide range of areas.

Over-the-air encryption protects radio communications on DMR repeaters and DMR radios from unauthorized access from the moment of signaling to set up the call. This means that all of the information is encrypted, from call setup through to reception at the transmitter.

For end users buying Hytera DMR radios, it is an optional function which can be used as of DMR Firmware Release 8.0. It is available for the handheld radios of the PD6, PD7 and X1 series, as well as for DMR mobile radios and all repeaters. To enable to encryption, it is now possible to configure the Hytera radios and repeaters, using the Customer Programming Software (CPS). Over-the-air encryption can be easily activated and configured using this tool. Users with older equipment can upgrade it to Firmware Release 8.0 and then also use over-the-air encryption.

According to Hytera, this comprehensive protection against interception is unique on the DMR market.
