Twisted Pair Solutions, Inc., a recognized leader in critical communication applications for secure, real-time communications anywhere on any device, has today announced the availability of its WAVE Communicator for Microsoft SharePoint, an application for integrating communication capabilities into Microsoft SharePoint 2007 & 2010. By adding secure voice capability along with status, presence and location information to a SharePoint user’s experience, WAVE Communicator improves information flow between office-based and mobile workers, increasing cross-functional collaboration and enhanced decision-making.

“There is an enormous community of SharePoint users that will truly benefit from improved communications by using WAVE to magnify the value of their current investment in SharePoint,” said Tom Guthrie, president and CEO of Twisted Pair. “SharePoint was developed to help organizations operate more effectively and WAVE Communicator builds on this vision by facilitating instantaneous voice connections with those on the ground level of any project.”

Built on WAVE, the industry's leading communication interoperability platform, WAVE Communicator for SharePoint includes a web part that provides IT departments the ability to simply add mobile worker communications and collaboration directly into a new or existing SharePoint deployment. Users will be presented with communication channels that may include multiple two-way radio networks, push-to-talk WAVE Mobile Communicator groups using smartphones, or broadcast systems. When a SharePoint user needs to communicate with a user or mobile worker, they click on the appropriate WAVE communication channel to communicate in real-time, keeping project communications fluid and outcomes precise.

The WAVE Communicator also makes it possible for SharePoint users to reference presence information for mobile workers equipped with WAVE Mobile Communicators and GPS-supported two-way radios, enabling team members to locate field resources immediately and get the right resources assigned to the task at hand.

The WAVE Communicator for SharePoint 2010 is the second major announcement from Twisted Pair this year to support Microsoft enterprise collaboration applications. In July, Twisted Pair announced a WAVE Communicator that extends the voice capabilities of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 to mobile workers, strengthening the presence-driven unified communications tool. Enterprises around the world run on Microsoft collaboration applications and now may reap even greater returns on their investments by leveraging WAVE Communicator for Lync and SharePoint.

WAVE Communicator is a key component of WAVE 5.3, the latest version of Twisted Pair's award-winning critical communications platform. WAVE 5.3 also adds WAVE Web Communicator, a feature-rich web application that allows any office-based or mobile worker to monitor, transmit and receive audio from multiple communication systems, such as two-way radio networks and smartphones running WAVE Mobile Communicator, using a browser-based application. WAVE Mobile Communicators are available for Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile/CE smartphone, tablets and custom devices. iPhone 4&5 will be supported later in Q4, 2011.
