BDBOS announced that this week, the first two of a total of ten satellite-based mobile base stations (Sat-mBS) were handed over to the riot police of the states of Berlin and Brandenburg.

The new mobile base stations are mainly used by BDBOS in particularly intensive situations with increased capacity requirements for the BOS digital radio network or supply bottlenecks, for example during faillures of regular base stations.

The the Sat-mBSare able to access the BOS network via a satellite link and thus can be used flexibly at any location. The unit consist of a towing vehicle and a trailer, which contains the entire system for the operation of the Sat-mBS.

For the supply of radio traffic from the satellite link to the BOS digital TETRA radio network, BDBOS has equipped two of its exchanges with satellite head stations. From these exchanges the Sat-mBS are connected to the switching centers throughout Germany.

The Federally funded Sat-mBS are available to all police as well as non-police users of the BOS network. The inter-federal project is based on an initiative of the inspector of the riot police of the federal states within the Federal Ministry of the Interior, for construction and homeland.

The Sat-mBS are stationed with the riot police of the specific states and kept there as available resources.
