Global radio communications specialist Simoco has been chosen to supply and install its Simoco Xd DMR system at Loscam’s pallet repair facility in Truganina, West Melbourne.

Loscam is an industry leader in pallet and container pooling solutions, working with both multinational and local companies to implement and manage pallet pools throughout Australia and Asia. Its multi-million dollar, purpose-built pallet repair facility in Truganina is the largest facility of its kind for the company, covering an area of 31,500 square metres.

The order, which was secured by Simoco Australasia, sees Simoco’s DMR mobiles installed directly onto the fleet of forklifts at the Truganina site, in addition to the supply of desktop base stations for office staff.

Loscam workers at the pallet repair warehouse will use the system to effectively coordinate the day-to-day operations of the facility, with forklift drivers able to communicate directly with the office while operating through the complex.

The challenge was to provide a futureproof communications system, which offered all the advantages of open-standard DMR yet maintained the flexibility to evolve in accordance with requirements. Simoco Xd offered a complete digital solution for Loscam, with reliability, scalability, ease of deployment and reduced lifetime operating costs.
