No TETRA system for Poland during Euro 2012 - Soccer Championship

Poland to continue with EDACS trunking system

The interior minister Jacek Cichocki ensures that services, are subject to him, are ready to provide security during the forthcoming European Championship Cup. They will however have to do without a TETRA radio communication system and operating in the country of 112. Preparations for the European Championship Cup in Poland are lasting for years.

Besides the construction of stadiums, roads and workouts to Euro Polish team also preparations have been done for the Polish authorities: police, fire fighters, border guards, BOR, emergency services - all who will be responsible for security during the championships. Not only in places where the matches will take place, but throughout the country. At the last meeting before the Euro 2012 press release on the safety of the interior minister Jacek Cichocki asserted that, according to the announcement, from May 15 subordinate departments are ready for the championship.

Professionals that care about safety during the European Championships, the police, fire brigade, ambulance, will have to do without National Directory Digital radio communication system known as TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio). Work on the construction of the system began, although already in 2010, but in April last year, Deputy Minister Piotr Kolodziejczyk Ministry has decided to cancel the tender due to lack of money for the project.

Currently, Poland has no communications system for emergency services and emergency, which would cover the whole country.

So, how will the communication between the safety proffessionals happen during the championship? The current system is far from perfect" - Jacek Cichocki said at the last conference. Furthermore he assured that during the Euro 2012 services will be heard by using ad hoc solutions and repairs.  He promised the Minister of Internal Affairs. Communication departments to assist the police command center in Legionowo. There will be gathered together representatives of all services, and information that will flow to the legions, on duty shall communicate its services in different cities.

Meanwhile, services in urban areas, especially those in which there will be games, work on improving their communication systems. The police, for example, was settled in mid-May a tender for a system that integrates all available means of radio communication and wire. Its main purpose will be to lead the police forces at the National Stadium in Warsaw during the Euro 2012. The system is integrated in a single hardware platform systems, which currently uses the KSP: EDACS trunked offered by Ericsson, active fragments of TETRA, VHF conventional communication, telephone wire ISDN connectivity, as well as future mobile telephony.

The delivery system, integrate it with existing infrastructure and conducting training is tomorrow the 8th June.
