As the operator of the German digital radio network for public safety agencies, the lively exchange with user organizations is an important matter for BDBOS. Once a year these user organizations are invited to the BDBOS facility in Berlin. On the occasion of this year's meeting with the German Fire Brigade Association (DFV), the BDBOS was honored as a "partner of the fire brigade".

BDBOS President Andreas Gegenfurtner accepted the certificate and plaque from DFV President Karl-Heinz Banse on Tuesday in the presence of Federal Managing Director Rudolf Römer and the head of the Bremerhaven fire brigade, Jens Cordes.

"As BDBOS, we are proud to be a partner to the fire brigade," commented BDBOS President Gegenfurtner on the award. “In the past we have repeatedly reported internally and externally on the diverse voluntary commitments of our employees. I am grateful for this commitment and I am pleased that today's award is once again focusing on this important contribution to society."

Germany's system of comprehensive danger prevention by the fire brigades is unique in this form and size. It is supported by a community of people who work full-time and on a voluntary basis in both public and private sponsorship. Also colleagues at BDBOS are involved in the volunteer fire brigades – like almost a million volunteer workers in Germany.

What is taken for granted in the BDBOS is increasingly problematic elsewhere: During the day, when many honorary members are doing their main job, it is difficult to get sufficiently qualified personnel for the assignment. This applies even in large cities with professional fire brigades. This circumstance endangers the so-called "daily alarm security".

The German Fire Brigade Association, which bundles and represents the interests of the 16 state fire brigade associations and the national groups of factory fire brigades and professional fire brigades, is also raising awareness of this problem with the "Partner of the Fire Brigade" campaign.
