PMRExpo 2025: Advancing Expertise in Mobile Critical Communications
PMRExpo 2025 is set to be the most engaging and versatile gathering for mobile critical communications yet. Explore breakthrough 5G technologies, real-world applications, and unmatched networking opportunities.
PMRExpo, Europe’s leading trade fair for secure communications, is set to open its doors in just a few weeks, welcoming around 5,500 visitors and more than 260 national and international exhibitors.
As initiator and non-profit sponsor, PMeV, in collaboration with Koelnmesse, continues to drive the strategic development and programming of this premier event for authorities, organizations with security responsibilities (BOS), critical infrastructure operators, and businesses across all sectors.
PMRExpo 2025 offers a comprehensive platform to build, update, and deepen expertise in mission- and business-critical mobile communications. Featuring a cutting-edge trade exhibition, the PMRExpo Summit, and the Connecting Area, the event provides unparalleled opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange. Highlights include the “5G Innovation Hub for Private Networks,” where exhibitors will showcase live demonstrations of private 5G networks setting new standards for connected enterprise applications.
A new symposium, “PMRExpo meets Defense Technology,” will focus this year on “Drones and Cybertechnology,” while the Federal Agency for Digital Radio (BDBOS) will host its third “Broadband Forum” on the final day.
From Narrowband to Broadband and 5G Campus Networks
Topics at PMRExpo span narrowband and broadband networks, 5G campus solutions, radios, applications, and accessories. Key themes include BOS digital radio, 5G campus networks, control centers, cybersecurity, and Critical IoT. The critical communications sector faces major transformations, particularly the migration from narrowband technologies such as TETRA to broadband networks—a challenge shared by BOS, critical infrastructure, and private enterprises alike. The development of private broadband networks, operated predominantly by end users, has become increasingly significant with LTE and 5G standards.
A Forum for Dialogue: Users, Providers, and Decision-Makers
Across three days, exhibitors from around the world will present innovations, products, applications, and solutions in secure communications. While established technologies will be featured, the focus is on emerging trends and next-generation developments. The PMRExpo Summit brings together top industry experts to explore the latest technologies, security considerations, and business opportunities. The program is structured to address different audiences each day: communication solutions for critical infrastructure on November 25, BOS-focused sessions on November 26, and a dedicated program for control centers on November 27.
Connecting Area: 5G Insights and Networking
The Connecting Area at the center of the exhibition hall offers compact presentations and expert talks, providing attendees with deep insights into private 5G networks (5G campus networks). Users and specialists will share real-world applications, challenges, and solutions, making the area a hub for professional exchange and networking.
5G Innovation Hub for Private Networks – Connectivity. Security. Innovation.
Following last year’s successful debut, the 2025 edition will again feature the “5G Innovation Hub for Private Networks.” Exhibitors will demonstrate live how private 5G networks are transforming industries including manufacturing, logistics, security, and critical infrastructure. Visitors will experience practical scenarios and technological innovations that enhance efficiency, flexibility, and corporate security while safeguarding data sovereignty. Key focus areas include:
- Smart manufacturing and connected production
- Efficient intralogistics and smart warehousing
- Virtual and augmented reality applications
- Real-time drone control
- Advanced private 5G campus networks
- Maximum security in critical infrastructures
Participants are invited to showcase their 5G solutions through realistic use cases in the 5G Hub.
Supporting Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises
PMRExpo 2025 provides SMEs with guidance on practical questions such as: What can 5G do? How can it benefit my business? Early-stage hesitation often delays 5G projects despite their strategic importance. Government support is essential to accelerate the adoption of 5G campus networks, particularly within Germany’s Mittelstand, ensuring competitiveness and innovation.
Hackathon: Innovation Meets Crisis
The Hackathon@PMRExpo returns in 2025 for its next edition under the theme “Technology Meets Crisis – Shaping the Communication of Tomorrow.” In a 48-hour design and coding marathon, interdisciplinary teams will develop AI-driven, practical, and socially relevant solutions to improve crisis management, support decision-making, and enhance communication effectiveness in critical situations.
In 2024, the Hackathon event attracted over 40 hackers, 120 community members, and 12 exhibitors. Last year’s winning team is now advancing its project through an EXIST founder’s grant.
PMRExpo 2025 promises to be a hub of innovation, knowledge exchange, and networking for all stakeholders in mobile critical communications.
