Union County, SC Retains Federal Engineering Consulting Services for Public Safety Communications System

Union County, SC has retained the services of Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) to assist with improvements to the County’s public safety mobile radio system.

Chief Dennis J. Merrifield, Union County Fire Coordinator & Emergency Management Director said: “Like most public safety organizations today, Union County is experiencing several issues with our current radio communications system, and we desire professional technical support to address short-term, mid-term, and long-term communications improvements. We retained Federal Engineering, to respond to ad-hoc assignments as we work to improve communications for our first responder.”

Mr. Travis LePage, FE’s Director provided an overview of the project: “Federal Engineering’s support for the entire lifecycle of the County project includes a wide range of tasks:

  • Technical assistance to the County Fire Coordinator & Emergency Management Director and other county stakeholders
  • System capacity analysis or improvement studies

  • Program planning and project management
  • Analyses of radio operations and system/technology utilization in order to develop improvement recommendations

  • Implementations support
