ARMS and Axis Communications Complete First Body-Worn Camera CAD Integration

Curated by: Gert Jan Wolf - Editor-in Chief for The Critical Communications Review

Axis Communications and ARMS Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) have successfully completed their first integration of body-worn camera technology with CAD systems, implemented at the Billerica Police Department in Massachusetts. This deployment represents a milestone in bringing together video evidence and incident management data for improved operational efficiency in public safety.

The integration enables Axis Camera Station, Axis Communications’ video management platform, to automatically categorize and store video footage according to CAD incident data. By linking each recording with relevant response information, the system reduces the time officers spend on administrative tasks, while ensuring video files are properly classified under categories aligned with local and state retention requirements.

This advancement allows agencies to handle large volumes of body-worn camera footage more effectively. It also strengthens accountability and transparency, ensuring evidence is readily available and securely managed. For law enforcement agencies, this means faster access to critical video material, improved compliance, and streamlined workflows that allow officers to dedicate more time to frontline duties.

Axis entered the body-worn camera market in 2020 and has steadily expanded the capabilities of its Axis Camera Station solution to serve public safety organizations. Partnering with ARMS underscores Axis’ ongoing commitment to delivering integrated technologies that enhance situational awareness, operational performance, and evidence management for agencies nationwide.
