Lyfo Secures European Patent – A New Era of Multi‑Network Resilience for Mission‑Critical Users
The patented technology enables seamless, automatic switching between mobile networks, ensuring uninterrupted service in the event of operator outages, coverage gaps, congestion, or cross-border transitions.
Lyfo, the European specialist in multi-network mobile resilience, has been awarded European Patent EP4064764, protecting its proprietary mobile-network-switching technology and marking a significant milestone in the company's development as a provider of resilient connectivity for mission-critical and business-critical organisations. The patent was announced by the company in April 2026.
The patented technology enables seamless, automatic switching between mobile networks, ensuring uninterrupted service in the event of operator outages, coverage gaps, congestion, or cross-border transitions. Designed for organisations operating in public safety, transport, utilities, defence, logistics, and emergency response, the solution eliminates the operational risk associated with single-network dependence — a vulnerability that has been repeatedly exposed by major mobile network failures across Europe in recent years.
The technology addresses a growing concern within mission-critical communications as national public safety networks migrate toward MCX services built on multi-network architectures. While such architectures offer significant capability, they also carry inherent risks: a core network failure can disable all MCX services simultaneously, and conventional roaming solutions are unable to proactively switch between networks. Lyfo's patented switching mechanism responds to this challenge by intelligently and proactively selecting the best available network without reliance on a central core.
Maurits Zandbergen, CEO of Lyfo, commented:
"Mobile networks fail more often than people realise — sometimes across entire countries, other times more locally due to coverage gaps. Mission‑critical users cannot afford those blind spots. With our now patented solution, Lyfo safeguards the operational continuity of organisations that depend on connectivity every second of the day."
The solution is already deployed at scale, with tens of thousands of mission-critical and business-critical professionals relying on Lyfo's technology across multiple years of field-proven operation. Users range from emergency first responders and cross-border transport operations to industrial field teams requiring continuous connectivity for safety, coordination, and control.
The commercial validation of multi-network resilience is gaining traction among major mobile operators. Odido in the Netherlands has introduced a Backup SIM offering, while O2 Telefónica in Germany has launched its O2 Business Safety Net product — both reflecting growing demand from enterprise and mission-critical customers for access to more than a single network.
Lyfo is the European leader in multi-network mobile resilience. Its patented technology enables mission critical and business critical users to stay connected at all times, by automatically selecting the best available mobile network, regardless of borders, outages or operator failures.
