BDBOS President Jens Koch Moves to Federal Domestic Intelligence Agency
In the interim, BDBOS Vice President Frank Buddrus assumes leadership of the agency until a permanent successor is appointed.
Jens Koch has stepped down as President of the German Federal Agency for Digital Radio for Security Authorities (BDBOS), effective 1 April 2026, following his appointment as Vice President of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz). In the interim, BDBOS Vice President Frank Buddrus assumes leadership of the agency until a permanent successor is appointed.
Koch had served as BDBOS President since October 2024, during which time he oversaw the continued development of federal networks and led preparations for the next generation of broadband digital radio communications — a strategic priority for Germany's public safety and security sector.
His move to the Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz represents a return to his professional roots in extremism and counter-terrorism. Prior to his role at BDBOS, Koch held senior positions at the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Chancellery, where he worked on a range of domestic security matters.
The search for a permanent successor to lead BDBOS has not yet concluded. The agency, which operates Germany's nationwide digital radio network for public safety organisations, plays a central role in the country's critical communications infrastructure. Further announcements regarding the presidential appointment are expected in due course.
