Inspired by the legacy of Sir Angus Tait, the work through the TAIT foundation is all about encouraging students of all ages to get excited by STEM
Yesterday, 27th May 2025, Christchurch based manufacturer of critical communications solutions, TAIT Communications, officially launched it's new 'TAIT Foundation website'.
Through the new web prescence for the Tait Foundation it will now be even more accessible for people to apply and see what funding is available.
The TAIT Foundation exists to help develop New Zealand’s next generation of STEM talent. The company is on a mission to increase the number of STEM students throughout the education system in Christchurch and Canterbury, and build the bridges needed to move them into science, engineering and technology careers.
Inspired by the legacy of Sir Angus Tait, the work through the TAIT foundation is all about encouraging students of all ages to get excited by STEM – science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We want today’s young people to develop an appreciation for knowledge, a talent for problem-solving and the desire to pursue a science or tech-based career.
The legacy of Sir Angus Tait
Sir Angus Tait (1919-2007) was not motivated by fame or money. He was a modest, resolute and unpretentious man with a strong sense of purpose.
He believed in the importance of acting ethically and was an early proponent of workplace diversity through the encouragement of women in the workforce.
He believed that education is the key to opportunity, and that good teachers create good students.
In the task-focused, unpretentious spirit of Sir Angus Tait our approach is about action over process. We’re here to enable good ideas, not get in the way of them.
