The Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio (BDBOS), operator of the German public safety radio network, announced that it has become an official member of ETSI.

Since the end of December 2017 BDBOS is an official member of the ETSI. Headquartered in Sophia Antipolis, France, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) aims to create global applicable standards for information and communication technologies, including fixed, mobile, radio, broadcast and Internet technologies. ETSI also deals with the requirements of TETRA and Public safety Broadband (Public Safety LTE or PSLTE).

With the accession of BDBOS to the ETSI, requirements of the German BOS network can be introduced and represented thorugh the different ETSI working groups and committees.

In April, during the 71st General Assembly at ETSI headquarters, BDBOS will present itself for the first time.
