ETSI TC TCCE, in partnership with the TETRA + Critical Communications Association (TCCA) and with the support of the European Commission, will conduct the 1st MCPTT Plugtests™ event taking place from 19 to 23 June 2017 in the ETSI premises, in Sophia-Antipolis, France.

The interoperability of "Mission Critical Push To Talk" (MCPTT) products and services has not been tested in Europe previously. This makes the test an ideal opportunity for manufactureres to test their products accoding to 3GPP Release 13.

The goal of the MCPTT Plugtests™ event is to validate the interoperability of a variety of different solutions on the market using different scenarios and test cases. The tests will be based on 3GPP, ETSI and IETF standards, and are designed for:

  • UE vendors
  • EPS vendors
  • MCPTT server system vendors
  • SIP/IMS Core vendors
  • Control Room vendors
  • MCPTT test solution vendors

The purpose and scope of the MCPTT Plugtests™ event is to trial independently and jointly all components of the MCPTT communication chain such as:

  • SIP Registration
  • Authentication
  • Affiliation
  • Group Call
  • Floor Control

For many manufacturers, the 1st MCPTT Plugtests™, supported by the European Commission, is an important step to understand the level of interoperability of their implementations and to validate their understanding of the standards.

“The event is voluntary to participate in and is for building confidence,” said Adrian Scrase, ETSI chief technology officer (CTO ). “There is no way for manufacturers to know if their products are interoperable unless they test.”

At CCW in Hong Kong Adrian Scrase CTO of ETSI and Harald Ludwig TCCA TF Chair made a joint presentation on the tests. A copy is attached HERE for your information.
