smartUC, a dedicated support and delivery division of critical communications specialists Simoco Group, has launched at the European Utility Telecom Conference. The division wil guide utility providers through transition to emerging smart technologies.

The division will help organisations in the utilities sector to deliver unified communications across increasingly complex networks, by managing their widening portfolio of technologies in a more efficient way.

Utilities providers around the world are faced with more assets and sites than ever before, as well as an increasing diversity of resources and communication methods, including a mix of legacy and new technologies. smartUC enables customers to navigate these changes by delivering unified communications networks which help monitor and control critical infrastructure in the sector. Central to this offering is Simoco Pulse, a private, secure telemetry network that allows organisations to monitor and control assets remotely by providing resilient and reliable low band data transmission. The division will also provide expert consultancy on transitioning to new systems that deliver a wide range of business benefits, including reduced outages and overall operating costs.

smartUC CEO Mike Norfield said: “We’re launching smartUC to provide utilities companies with dedicated support when it comes to delivering smarter communications, in an era of ever increasing assets and applications.

“As a division of Simoco Group, smartUC draws on more than 60 years of experience in the field of critical communications, as well as the latest expertise when it comes to the provision of services such as telemetry, voice transmissions and additional requirements such as LTE.”

The launch of smartUC is also boosted by the appointment of Nick Avill, who will serve as smartUC’s Business Development Director, EMEA Utilities, and Connor Smyth, who will serve as Business Development Manager. With extensive experience in the industry, Nick and Connor will be responsible for supporting customers in the electricity, oil, gas and water sectors.

Nick Avill said: “The utilities market is set for a period of significant change as new smart technologies become available. Reliable, scalable and secure communication systems are critical for companies, and this is where smartUC offers real value. We have the expertise required to guide organisations through the changeover, offering a wide range of services, from system planning and design to installation and commissioning.”
