Tropico, Savis and Harris have presented the results of tests organized during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Brasilia of a LTE mobile broadband network for exclusive use of the Brazilian army.

The system, based on the 700 MHz band, used technology developed by local research institute CPqD in partnership with Tropico, the company responsible for manufacturing the equipment.

According to the president of Tropico, Paulo Cabestre, the non-mission-critical wireless network was deployed in order to ensure additional availability of information for the Brazilian Army during the Olympics. For this, antennas and base stations were installed (eNode B) at various points of the federal capital, to cover the regions of the Mane Garrincha stadium and hotels where the athletes of the Olympic football teams were staying.
