Cambium Networks Releases High-Capacity Multipoint Wireless Broadband Solution For Highly Secure, Mission-Critical Communications

Cambium Networks, a leading global provider of wireless broadband solutions, today debuted its High-Capacity Multipoint (HCMP) software upgrade to the PTP 700 product line.

The PTP 700 with HCMP is the latest product in Cambium Networks' global defense portfolio enabling defense, industrial, and public safety professionals to deploy a secure, high-efficiency multipoint system with up to eight locations.

Designed to withstand rugged conditions and harsh weather, the PTP 700 with High-Capacity Multipoint technology is ideal for quickly establishing temporary, nomadic networks for first responder emergency response and at the halt communication networks for defense agencies; as well as permanent deployments for border security, video surveillance and communications backhaul.

The PTP 700 with HCMP is the result of years of Warfighter feedback from a decade of PTP 600 deployments as the workhorse backhaul for United States Department of Defense force protection programs in recent military theaters of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as border and government infrastructure both in the US and globally.

"The High-Capacity Multipoint upgrade allows our national defense and government agency customers to connect up to eight remote modules to a single access point dramatically increasing the utility and mission options of the proven PTP 700 platform," said Bruce Collins, PTP Product Manager, Cambium Networks. "Previously, accomplishing this highly secure, multi-point connectivity in a remote environment required multiple channel allocations and multiple sets of point-to-point radio links. Using HCMP, these missions can be deployed more quickly with fewer radios and less spectrum. As an ultra-wideband radio, every PTP 700 is ready for use virtually anywhere in the world supporting every band from 4.4 to 5.925 GHz. And now with HCMP, every PTP 700 can deploy as a point-to-point, multi-point hub or subscriber radio –as dictated by the next mission. One radio, many missions."

The High-Capacity Multipoint upgrade is the latest addition to Cambium Networks' suite of solutions for border security, natural disaster recovery, military base security, and civilian law enforcement among other programs. Last year, the company unveiled the PTP 700 in response to demand from government and industrial customers for highly secure, high-capacity connectivity. As a NIST FIPS 140-2 validated platform the PTP 700 information assurance is ensured for security sensitive communication networks. Additionally, earlier this year, Cambium Networks debuted the Quick Deploy Positioner for rapid network deployment in any environment without the need for a radio frequency expert to manually align the antenna.

Key features of the PTP 700 include:

  • 450 Mbps throughput
  • 4.4 GHz to 5.9 GHz frequency
  • OTAR – Over-the-air rekeying increases security and reduces maintenance efforts by automatically refreshing encryption keys in a hitless fashion.
  • Dynamic Spectrum Optimization™ – a unique capability offered by Cambium Networks that enables optimization of link performance by automatically sampling and changing channels to avoid interference without affecting link service
  • A portfolio of omni and sector antennas optimized for HCMP missions.

"The addition of High-Capacity Multipoint to our portfolio allows our industrial, government and defense customers to improve situational awareness in mission critical deployments using the same PTP 700 hardware they already have deployed in the field with a simple software upgrade," said Scott Imhoff, SVP of Product Management, Cambium Networks. "This announcement demonstrates our commitment to offering government and national defense organizations a comprehensive suite of solutions that can accomplish all of their connectivity objectives through a single manufacturer."
