Source: MCCResources

The event will take place on 29 September 2016, in ETSI Headquarters, Sophia Antipolis, France.

This one-day workshop on Broadband Public Protection and Disaster Relief (BB-PPDR) will provide a platform for all relevant parties, especially standardization and manufacturing industry, PPDR organisations (authorities, service providers), spectrum regulators, PPDR users (police, fire brigade, ambulance services) and Interior Ministries.

The workshop will inform the audience about the up-to-date situation on BB-PPDR, will identify required future activities in various areas (standardization, national implementation, regulation) and will foster the interrelation between those areas.

The event will be structured around the following sessions:

  • Setting the Scene: to generally inform the audience about the status quo on BB-PPDR achievements, and about what has been left without a solution yet.
  • Standardization Activities: to inform the audience on what has been done so far in the area of standardization (including work already started).
  • National Case Studies: to exchange views and ideas on possible implementations for BB-PPDR on the national level including the identification of potential challenges.
  • Future Challenges - Work in Progress: to introduce the ongoing work and to identify necessary future activities and potential challenges from industry and stakeholder perspective.

The outcome of the workshop will support the current activities in standardization (ETSI and 3GPP). It will also show the options for the national choice of the most suitable implementation, the selection of relevant frequency ranges and decision on the amount of spectrum, based on the European results on BB-PPDR.
