The LEX 755 Mission Critical Handheld is designed to complement Motorola radios to provide responders with rugged devices that deliver reliable communications and convenient operation when they need them the most.

Motorola Solutions launched its latest mission critical LTE handheld device – the LEX 755 - at Critical Communications World in Singapore today (20 May 2014). The device is designed to enable first responders to harness the intelligence of their entire teams, thereby helping them to be safer, better informed and more efficient.

The LEX 755 Mission Critical Handheld is designed to complement Motorola radios to provide responders with rugged devices that deliver reliable communications and convenient operation when they need them the most.

Together, these companion devices provide public safety agencies with advanced voice and data tools that help responders be ready for what’s next. Features include:

  • Radio network connectivity via the LTE-LMR gateway
  • Dedicated Push-to-Talk (PTT) button
  • Configurable Quick Action button
  • Dual-microphone noise canceling technology
  • Voice connectivity over cellular networks.

Its rugged form factor, mission critical data applications and a quick-response user interface provide an always-on public safety user experience, which is designed to improve situational awareness and helps users anticipate what’s next. The LEX 755 offers government-grade security and is easy to deploy and manage, according to Motorola.

Offering virtually unlimited connectivity, the LEX 755 is designed for private LTE networks that operate on one or more bands (3, 7 and 20) and with a manual switch to operate on a public carrier LTE network with a subscription for coverage extension and back up. The LEX 755 supports any roaming agreements the private LTE network may have in place and will fall back to 3G/2G in the absence of LTE coverage if the network supports it.

Agencies operating in regions where private LTE network spectrum is not available have the option of utilising a public carrier network with connectivity to a public safety core and services. The LEX 755 supports IMS/VoLTE and IMS/SMS services on 4G LTE in addition to circuit switch voice and SMS. Key connectivity provision includes:

  • 4G LTE Bands 3, 7, 20
  • 3GPP Release 9
  • 3G UMTS/HSPA+ Bands 1, 8 and Quad Band GSM
  • 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Miracast
  • Bluetooth 4.0LE + Enhanced Data Rate (EDR).

The device uses the advanced Security Enhanced (SE) version of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The LEX 755 Mission Critical Handheld provides agencies with a secure and robust yet flexible platform for multimedia-rich applications that give personnel on the street an advanced public safety user experience.

This user experience can help enhance efficiency and productivity during everyday activities and when the mission really matters. The application ecosystem includes:

  • Real-time video streaming
  • Computer aided dispatch (CAD) client
  • Unified push-to-talk
  • Electronic citation
  • Query and messaging
  • Email and web
  • Data capture
  • Asset tracking and management
  • Identity verification
  • False alarm management
  • Incident command
  • Evidence collection
  • Report writing
  • Mapping and navigation.

During an incident, every second counts. To keep up with the needs of public safety, the LEX 755 Mission Critical Handheld incorporates powerful hardware components, matched with long-lasting batteries, including:

  • Advanced 1.7 GHz dual-core processor
  • High-resolution and sun glare resistant 4-inch display
  • Finger-driven capacitive touch screen made from damage-resistant glass
  • High-capacity battery (2840 mAh) lasts a full shift
  • FIPS 140-2 Level 3 Encryption via CRYPTR microSD Card and Suite B-compliant IPSec VPN.

The LEX 755 is rated IP54, sealed and ruggedised against everyday hazards like moisture, vibration and temperature extremes. Built to exceed MIL-STD-810G test specifications, it is also protected against drops.
