The Federal Association of Professional Mobile Communications (PMeV) - Netzwerk Sicherheiter Kommunikation announced that it offers interested industry associations information and a dialogue on 5G campus networks.

“The future of digitization in the German economy can only be shaped in dialogue between users and providers. 5G campus networks are a crucial building block for shaping the digital future in companies. We are happy to bring the competence and expertise of the planning companies, application developers, system integrators, manufacturers, infrastructure providers, consultants and service providers of mission- and business-critical mobile communications solutions that have been represented in the PMeV network for 20 years into the dialogue with the user industries and want to drive developments together." , explains Dr. Frederik Giessing, head of the PMeV working group on broadband communication for critical infrastructures and companies.

As a competence center for professional communication solutions, the PMeV stands for reliable and future-proof support for the introduction and operation of a campus network.

5G campus network: efficient, flexible and future-proof
A 5G campus network is a geographically limited, local broadband mobile network adapted for special requirements such as industrial communication. The 5G campus network may supply both the buildings and the associated outdoor areas with radio, but not neighboring properties. It is used exclusively for internal applications. The applications in such a network depend on the individual requirements of the company, e.g. in terms of flexibility, efficiency, reliability, security and also the latency, i.e. the response times. Should new, individual requirements of the company require an expansion of the performance features of the network, this is also possible. A separate 5G campus network is "Future Proved" - i.e. future-proof. “Data communication is becoming more and more complex. New demands on communication solutions, also with regard to cyber security, are occurring at ever shorter intervals. The standardized and broadband 5G technology can manage all of this,” adds Giessing.

Tailor-made individual net possible
The advantages of the high flexibility of the campus networks are particularly evident in their operating model: in principle, the campus owner can be his own network operator. Planning, provision and operation are practically self-directed. However, the know-how for setting up and operating your own 5G campus network does not necessarily have to be anchored in the company. Planning, provision and operation can be subcontracted to external service providers. In this way, the company receives a tailor-made individual network that is optimized according to individual requirements. Should new company requirements require an expansion of the network's performance characteristics, this is also possible.

Increasing competitiveness and company value

“Campus networks open up enormous potential and opportunities for companies from very different sectors and sizes. They accelerate and make internal company processes more flexible and thus increase the competitiveness and value of the company. Small and medium-sized companies can benefit from the advantages of 5G technology just as much as large companies," Bernhard Klinger, Chairman of the PMeV Board,

explains the initiative of his association, as a competent authority for professional communication solutions, to provide potential users with detailed information about campus networks.
