Simoco and Catalyst Announce DMR Tier III AIS Integration

Source: MCCResources

Simoco and Catalyst Communications Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of IP based dispatch solutions, announced the integration of Catalyst’s Dispatch Consoles with Simoco’s DMR Tier III radio system using the Application Interface Specification.

Simoco radio solutions are deployed worldwide with all major protocols. Catalyst dispatch and interoperability solutions are field proven for mission critical voice with utility, public safety, education, and federal agencies across the United States.

Catalyst’s IP|AIS Gateway routes digital audio and advanced control messages to the Simoco Tier III DMR radio system through a single Ethernet connection. The interface supports Unit ID, Console Pre-emption, Group Calling, and Emergency Group Calls. For interoperability, other radio systems such as Project 25, SmartNet®, EDACS and MDC 1200, as well as LTE push-to-talk, can be patched to the Simoco DMR Tier III system through the Catalyst IP|AIS Gateway with or without using the Catalyst console. Existing Catalyst customers can upgrade their dispatch consoles and Interoperability solutions to include the AIS Gateway.

Gary Correia, VP Americas Sales and Business Development at Simoco Group, said: “We are excited about working with Catalyst as it provides a fully integrated mission critical dispatch and interoperability solution for Simoco’s trunked DMR systems. Catalyst’s dispatch system and Simoco’s radio system each have no single point of failure and leverage Internet Protocol to provide cost-effective solutions. This integration demonstrates the power of open standards to empower Critical Communications agencies with the ability to choose their manufacturer for each radio subsystem.”

Catalyst president Robin Grier responded, “Simoco is a key member of the DMR Association and was instrumental in developing AIS for integrating subsystems from different manufacturers. Its radio equipment has performed well throughout our extensive testing and we are excited about the opportunity to serve utilities, transportation, public safety, and other agencies that choose a truly standards compliant DMR system.”

Catalyst’s full-featured dispatch solution, IP Console, as well as its mid-tier solution, Propulsion, provides advanced management of multiple simultaneous voice calls with a custom graphical user interface. Both consoles and the IP|AIS Gateway for interoperability are available for sale; contact Catalyst to locate a dealer or systems integrator. Catalyst will demonstrate AIS compatible consoles at the International Wireless Communications Expo, Booth 1752, in Las Vegas on March 23 and 24, 2016.
